The way I recorded my first in studio CD was actually pretty amazing. I was working with an amazing young man named Sean Heidinger, who was by executive assistant. We got along great and shared a lot with each other besides work stuff, including my music. Sean, it turns out, was and is very connected to the Buffalo music scene and for Christmas one year Sean gave me a free night of recording at GCR Studio in Buffalo. So, Jane (my wife) and I, along with Dave Millelo, who was helping to produce our first song, went into the studio one night with engineer Jay Zubricky, who became a good friend over many weeks of recording, and we set out to record out first song. I actually wrote that first recorded song shortly before our session and it's called "Push the Pedal Down". It's the last track on the CD. Anyway, we had such a great experience and were so happy with how the whole experience went that I committed to doing a whole CD and that's how Solid Ground got started. Many thanks to Sean, David and Jay, Jane and all the great musicians that helped me on the project. I hope you have a listen and let me know what you think.
The song "Push the Pedal Down" came as an idea one night when I was singing at the Library (bar) in Amherst. I looked out to the audience and saw people that were young, early 20's and others 50 and over and decided I wanted to write something to both age groups...which is what I did. As I wrote it, it seemed clear to me that we really don't change much internally as we age, we just look different. May wife always says that age is in the eyes of the young because when you get older you realize you're basically the same person inside...so that's a bit of what the song is all about. Cheers!
